Who provides TypeUps

TypeUps is operated by Threestart Limited, trading as Blanktriangle, in New Zealand. References to “TypeUps”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the operator of the service.

Who may use TypeUps

You must be at least 13 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms. If the law where you live requires a higher minimum age for an online service, that higher age applies. You may not use TypeUps if doing so is prohibited by the laws that apply to you.

Features containing clearly explicit adult content are available only to people who confirm that they are at least 18. This is a self-declared confirmation, not identity-based age verification. You must not make a false age confirmation.

What TypeUps provides

TypeUps lets people post short public thoughts without a public name and explore thoughts connected by meaning. Features, availability, limits and presentation may change as the service develops.

TypeUps does not promise that a thought will be published, remain available, receive a particular theme or produce any particular recommendation.

Your thoughts are public

Anything you post as a thought is public. Other people may read, copy, link to or share it. Do not submit confidential information, personal contact details, account credentials or anything you are not permitted to make public.

TypeUps does not display a public author profile with a thought, but this does not make the service private or technically untraceable.

Ownership and permission to operate the service

You keep any rights you have in the words you submit.

By submitting a thought, you give TypeUps a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, translate, analyse, moderate, adapt for technical display, publish, display, distribute and make the thought available as necessary to operate, improve and promote the TypeUps service. This includes displaying the thought on TypeUps, generating link previews and enabling other people to share its public page.

This licence ends when the thought is deleted from active systems, except where a copy must temporarily remain in backups, security records, legal records or material already shared by another person outside TypeUps.

You confirm that you have the right to submit the thought and that doing so does not unlawfully violate another person's rights.

Acceptable use

You must follow the TypeUps Guidelines. You must not:

Submit illegal content or use TypeUps to facilitate illegal activity.
Threaten, target, exploit or harass another person.
Sexualise minors or submit sexual content involving minors.
Publish private personal information, credentials or contact details without permission.
Encourage suicide, self-harm, terrorism or violent wrongdoing.
Promote hatred or violence against people based on protected characteristics.
Impersonate another person or falsely imply that a thought was written by them.
Spam, advertise through thoughts, manipulate recommendations or submit automated content without permission.
Probe, disrupt, overload, reverse engineer or bypass the security or rate limits of the service.
Use scraping, automated collection or model-training tools against TypeUps unless we have given written permission.

Moderation

We use automated systems and, where appropriate, human review to enforce our Guidelines. We may allow, limit, withhold, suppress or remove content. We may restrict requests or devices that appear abusive.

Legal content is not automatically guaranteed publication. We may limit content when needed to keep different parts of TypeUps safe, relevant and suitable for their intended context.

Moderation and classification can be imperfect. You can report a thought or contact us if you believe something has been handled incorrectly.

Anonymous ownership and deletion

TypeUps may rely on information stored on the posting device to recognise ownership of a thought. You are responsible for maintaining access to that device data if you want to use self-service deletion.

If the ownership information is lost, we may be unable to verify that a thought is yours. We may still remove content where required by law or our policies, but we will not transfer ownership based only on an unverified claim.

Automated suggestions

Themes, translations, echo counts and Journey recommendations are generated or assisted by automated systems. They are approximate and may be incomplete, inaccurate or unexpected. A connection between two thoughts does not mean the writers are the same, know each other or agree with one another.

TypeUps may use maturity and sensitivity classifications to keep adult, political, conflict-related or highly distressing thoughts out of Home and unrelated ordinary Journeys. Availability of a thought does not guarantee that it will be recommended in every context.

Not professional or emergency advice

TypeUps is not a medical, mental health, legal, financial, counselling or emergency service. Content on TypeUps is written by members of the public and should not be treated as professional advice.

If you or another person may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis service.

Advertising and external links

TypeUps may display clearly labelled house promotions, sponsorships or advertisements. Advertising will not imply that an advertiser wrote, endorsed or is connected to a particular thought.

TypeUps may link to external services. We do not control their content, availability or privacy practices. Your use of an external service is governed by that service's own terms.

Availability and changes

TypeUps is experimental and may change, pause or discontinue features at any time. We may impose or adjust limits to protect performance, safety and sustainability. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.

Disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TypeUps is provided “as is” and “as available”. We exclude warranties that are not required by law, including implied warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable consumer guarantees.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TypeUps and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary loss arising from use of, or inability to use, the service, public thoughts, automated classifications, recommendations or external links.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Suspension and termination

We may restrict or terminate access to TypeUps where reasonably necessary to protect people, enforce these Terms, comply with law or maintain the service. You may stop using TypeUps at any time.

Sections that by their nature should continue after termination, including ownership, licence, disclaimers and liability provisions, will continue to apply.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, without limiting consumer rights that must apply in your country. Courts with jurisdiction in New Zealand may hear disputes, subject to any mandatory rights available where you live.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as TypeUps develops. We will update the date above. Continuing to use TypeUps after revised Terms take effect means you accept the revised Terms where permitted by law.
